and i think, she can't speak german fluently too. due to the fact that she's currently attending a german course in Goethe institut. and also, in one infotainment, she asked her little brother "Wie finden Sie über Tika Panggabean?". the word "Sie" (meaning: Anda) is not the proper word for conversations with relatives/family. she shouls used the word "du". it is one the most basic grammar rules in german language. anyone who speaks FLUENT german, should now this.

I think nobody here denies her right to participate in the contest. Of course I also root for her, therefore I gave her critics. Support her by stating her weaknesses, not praising her blindly. Proficiency in English is definitely not the main problem, but it is one factor of judgement. Wouldn't fixing little things also rises the chance of her winning?

All things considered, the fact remains that Nadine's ability to speak English is somewhat lacking. It may be alright if she is a commoner, but it becomes a problem because:
1. She is a celebrity, and image is everything.
2. She is in an International Event, which requires at least the ability to speak English without stuttering.
3. She represents a whole nation, which would become the victim of foreign generalizations because of anything she has or will do.

actually, i do speak german and indonesian.
"what the fuck with you" would be "was ist mit dir los, du wichser?!" in german, or so to speak. well, you can't do an EXACT translation here, because the term "fuck" is not commonly use in german. and in indonesian it would be "lu ngapa sih, ngentot?!"

and you're rite, nobody's perfect. especially her english, which is the exact opposite of perfect.

in my opinion: first, at least she tried eventho it's not perfect. second, it's always better to speak urself rather than with a translator, becos when u speak, ppl can see ur emotions when u're speaking, so, ppl hv a better chance of seeing whether u're speaking the truth or if u're just saying rehearsed answers. third, english doesnt reflect neither beauty or brain.

Hey that's true she was born in Germany and you expect a good command of english from her, but she grew up in Jember so that's why her English isn't that great. Besides you gotta give her credit for trying. Why don't you go to Miss Universe's official website and there, you will find other worse candidates. For example, Miss China did not even use English to answer, or some other candidates gave short answers and did not attempt to engage in a conversation at all.

Her English is just bad. She came from an upper class family who could sure afford to pay for some English lesson. Heck, I'm not as fortunate as her financially but my English is better (as you can obviously tell) ^_^
